Meal service is a great way to get involved and directly serve the individuals coming through our doors. We accept volunteers for lunch (11:30am-1:30pm) and dinner (6pm-8pm). This time includes setting tables, serving the hot meal, getting to know our guests, and cleaning up. We generally have up to 10-15 people serving for each time.
Community outreach allows us to go out into homeless and impoverished communities of New Orleans to provide individuals and families with necessities such as groceries, hot and cold meals, hygiene kits, blankets, and more. Our hope is to minister to these communities through loving them well and showing them the love of Christ. These outreaches are typically from 1:30pm-4:30pm, Monday through Friday (occasionally Saturday), and include anywhere from 15-30 volunteers.
In light of COVID-19, our facility requires extra cleaning and sanitation now more than ever. Cleaning projects can include interior floors, bathrooms, windows, tables, chairs and baseboards, as well as groundskeeping, pressure washing, and trash pickup. We ask that the cleaning supplies be donated by individuals or groups, and these projects typically take place 9am-12pm Monday through Saturday and involve 15-20 volunteers.
We are constantly working to improve our campuses and make sure they provide a beautiful and safe place for our guests to recover and heal their hearts. Beautification projects are a great option for groups up to 20 people to volunteer their time by painting, gardening, landscaping, renovating, and more. These projects are open to time frame and can be scheduled with our volunteer coordinator at volunteer@neworleansmission.org.
The Mission hosts several events every year that would not be made possible without the help of our volunteers. Individual volunteers can help with anything from registration and service to planning and coordinating. Please contact our volunteer coordinator for event dates and opportunities.
If your business is interested in corporate volunteering opportunities, please email our volunteer coordinator at volunteer@neworleansmission.org. Packages to come.
If you would like to offer your personal skillset or natural gifts in any other areas, please feel free to indicate that on the volunteer form.
Minors under the age of 18 will be required to fill out the parental consent form below and return the signed document to the volunteer coordinator on day of service. All minors will be required to have adult supervision during their service time.

Ministry is the heartbeat of the New Orleans Mission, and we welcome individuals and groups to minister to the men and women of our program and organization. We accept volunteers for chapel services, worship services, outreach projects and more.
We are always in need of good drivers who are willing to volunteer their time for making pickups, dropping off deliveries, transporting guests and residents, etc.
