The New Orleans Mission is doing incredible work at Lynhaven in Hammond, walking alongside women in recovery from hopeless situations such as homelessness, trafficking, and sexual and physical abuse. We are dedicated to providing a safe haven for these women and their children. Recently, we have transformed 7 cottages into 14 duplexes to support women who have graduated from our program and have been reunited with their children, as well as those currently facing domestic violence, homelessness, or other difficult situations. These duplexes offer a secure and supportive environment where women and children can heal, rebuild their lives, and move forward with hope and confidence. All our services are open to anyone in need and are free to all of our guests.
In addition to providing safe housing, the women in our program also participate in vocational training. Lynhaven Events is part of our program, where we host events such as weddings, picnics, and family reunions at the Lynhaven event center. The women learn how to work these events and get paid while gaining valuable experience in the service industry and party planning.
Additionally, the women have a jewelry line called Redemption NOLA. They take donated jewelry, break it apart, and create new pieces. They share their stories and sell these creations at our Redemption NOLA thrift store in Mandeville.
This charity is a wonderful part of the community, helping people in difficult situations by bringing them hope and loving them as they heal. The New Orleans Mission at Lynhaven is not just a shelter; it is a place where lives are transformed, families are reunited, and futures are rebuilt. Choosing Lynhaven as a charity to highlight in the community means supporting a cause that truly makes a difference, offering compassion and practical help to those who need it most. Join us in making a lasting impact and shining a light of hope for those in need.
